About

Anthony John Sissian

Anthony John Sissian is a Sydney songwriter and lawyer who spends his life creating, thinking and working through philosophical questions.

He trained in music theatre at NIDA, then at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York and the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, before leaving the stage for law school. He graduated with First Class Honours and has practised law for more than a decade, admitted to practise by the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. He was nominated at the Australian Law Awards as Innovator of the Year and Litigator of the Year. To him, a lawyer speaks for those who can't speak for themselves, and when something isn't fair, just and equitable, says: “We'll just see about that.”

In 2015, his string octet The Whistler was premiered by the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra on a program of Mozart, Handel and Telemann. In 2026, Mexico's Cosmonauta Radio called The King Pt.1 “the Sistine Chapel of music.” His work has since drawn more than 50 international features in four languages.

Since he was about eight, he has heard music in his head: melodies, choirs, whole symphonies. His albums YOU THEE ME, HOME and THE LIGHT, and the collections INSTRUMENTALS and SACRED SONICS, are released through his own imprint, Aurora Sentient. Together they say one thing in many ways: we are one, and nothing was ever missing.
